Climate Change
The earth is getting warmer because we are using/making alot of
things that produce what are known as greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases, mainly
carbon dioxide are being produced everyday. There are 2 ways greenhouse gases
enter our atmosphere, one being from natural processes like animal, human and
plant repiration. The other being from what we call 'human activities' - things
that wouldn't normally happen in nature but that we do, for example making
plastics, burning coal and driving cars. When the carbon dioxide is dispersed
into the atmosphere it wraps around the earth and traps the heat in. If the
earth keeps getting warmer it will affect lots of different areas such as
plants. Plants that need colder weather to grow won't grow very well and
we will need to grow more species that like heat. The water levels everywhere
will start getting higher as the ice caps will start to melt and the summers and winters will get much warmer and
diseases will form in plants and animals.
What are people doing to try reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in the
atmosphere?
To reduce the amount of carbon dioxide there are already inventions made to
use less energy and to emitt less greenhouse gases/carbon into the atmosphere,
for example solar power, wind power, cars that run on hydrogen. And environmentally friendly
homes (earthships) that use less power and are made out of recycled
goods are becoming more frequent.
